I would like to find out if anyone outthere has or knows about a collection of LaTeX .sty files for papers to be submitted to various scientific (physical, chemical, mathematical, polymer science) jounrnals. I know about the revtex package, and I'm looking for something similar for other journals. Especially I am interested in .sty files for Macromolecules and J.Chem.Phys. I also got DVIPS from neon.stanford.edu and now it just builds any font it doesn't have (neat!). However, I looked in the directories that were created from the other tar files I retrieved with TeX, and found them replete with pk files of their own, e.g. cmfonts/pk, LaTeXfonts/pk, utilityfonts/pk, ams/amsfonts/pk. Quite a bit of space taken up. I don't see why I need all these fonts which we will probably never use. Why aren't they integrated into the "build it only if you need it" scheme and can I safely delete them? Peter J. Braams" Subject: GEM and DVIps Keywords: GEM, dvips Hi, We have problems printing figures made with GEM that are included in a LaTeX document. Until now we used PSdvi (Trevorrow) and LN03R scriptprinters. Somenone figured out what to modify in the PSdvi and GEM headers and everything worked. Since we use the LN05 scriptprinter with the DECprint printing software the figures don't show up on the paper anymore. When I tried to print with with DVIps (Thomas Rockiki) I get complaints about the GEM header not being present when I view the PostScript with GhostView. I know that the PostScript produced by GEM is very ugly, but people are using it here and whant to include their figures in LaTeX documents. What do we have to do to get things going again? Please send answers directly to me and I'll summarize if anything usefull turns up. Le sin, rinn sinn pro\gram a sgri\obheas MAIL-teachdaireachd mar LaTeX- teachdaireachd. Nuair a nithear bidh a h-uile buille (/ no \) iompaichte gu buillean LaTeX. Bidh an clo\-bhualadh nas snoige cuideachd! Feumaidh na goireasan C-compiler, LaTeX agus DVI gu LN3 (no PS) a bhith agaibh. Chan eil mi eo\lach air ca\il ach VAX agus IBM. Mar sin, tha mi an do\chas gum bi sibh gam leantainn an-seo. Cur an dreachd: Di\reach EXTRACTaibh mar MAIL2TEX.C (abramaid) bho MhAIL e agus de\anamh C MAIL2TEX (co-chruinneach) LINK MAIL2TEX (co-cheangail) agus bidh MAIL2TEX.EXE agaibh. Ruith: An de\idh cur a-steach "RUN MAIL2TEX" bidh cuid roghainn agaibh. Tha iad mi\nichte gu math 'sa phro\gram fhe\in. Cur a steach: EXTRACTaibh bho MhAIL gun "." a chuir agus bidh .TXT agaibh. De\anaibh a-nis. RUN MAIL2TEX/NEWLINE/LISTSERVE .TXT Ann an tiota no dha\ bheir e .LN3 (no .PS) dhuibh airson clo\-bhualadh. Tha mi an do\chas nach eil e ro cheangailte ris am VAX-cluster againne. Ach ma tha, is urrainn dhuibh 'atharrachadh. I read in GAELIC-L yesterday that some people were thinking about dropping the accents. Although I find them slightly annoying I still think they are quite important. In view of this we have written a program which rewrites an extracted MAIL messages as a LaTeX file, changing all the accents (/ or \) to LaTeX accents. The printout is nicer too! You will need the facilities; C-compiler, LaTeX and DVI2LN3 (or PS). I only know about VAX and IBM so I hope you can follow this. Installing: Just EXTRACT the program from MAIL as MAIL2TEX.C (for example) and do C MAIL2TEX (compile) LINK MAIL2TEX (link) and you will have MAIL2TEX.EXE. Running: After inputting "RUN MAIL2TEX" you'll get some options. These are well described in the program itself. Input: EXTRACT from MAIL without specifying "." and you will have .TXT. Now enter RUN MAIL2TEX/NEWLINE/LISTSERVE .TXT and in a couple of seconds it will give you .LN3 (or .PS) for printing. I hope it isn't too tied up with our VAX-cluster. But if it is you can always change it.
