Apologies for the lateness of this issue, which is due to my attending
the SGML-TeX conference organised by NTG (Nederlandstalige TeX
Gebruikersgroep) in Groningen last week. My thanks go to NTG, and
particularly to Kees van der Laan, for organising a very enjoyable
meeting and for their hospitality. It is hoped that a report on the
day's proceedings will be printed in a forthcoming issue of TeXline
(if I get it written in time!)

Subject: Translators for xfig output wanted

Sorry to trouble you but I am trying to track down two utility programs
to convert the output of an X window drawing program to LaTeX and PiCTeX
text formats. The drafting program is called 'xfig' and the utilities are
called :

   fig2latex : xfig - latex translator

   fig2tex : xfig - pictex translator

If these are not on the TeX server do you know of any X-window servers ?.

Thanks

Subject: BigTex

I have been informed by Neil Kempson at RMCS (Cranfield) that it is
possible to obtain from Aston University a copy of BigTex for an
IBM pc. I have at present PC-Tex but I have problems with Tex memory
when compiling my thesis. I would appreciate if you could help me with
this matter.

Subject: CM font breakup problem

In the past year or so we've moved to using the CM fonts with LaTeX
under Unix, partly for compatibility with TeXtures on the Macs and
partly because it seemed to be the way the world was moving. We have
a problem, though, when we use dvi2ps to produce 2 pages of text per
A4 page: the characters break up so that they aren't really legible.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Should we just move back to AM
fonts?
