I am particularly impressed with TE. However, I am after a version of DV-to-HPLaserJet for MS-DOS. The version in [.drivers] is in WEB format not .BOO format and we don't have a PASCAL compiler. Any ideas? I can fetch ART10.DOC_Z, and using binary mode transfer I get something which superficially appears to be a file to which Unix compress has been applied. We have at least two programs that will uncompress such a file, and they almost work: The first few lines come out in clear, but then it collapses into garble. There are indications that something bad is happening every 132 bytes, even though I avoid creating any record boundaries at this end. On the other hand, attempts to fetch BOOK.DOC_Z fail entirely, whether I specify binary mode or not. I get an error report: > Invalid value in command: max_storage_record_size for file is 08F9 > - implementation limit is 0800. > VAX/VMS FTP (80) Version 5.2. If anyone has any experiences, succesful or otherwise, with fetching such files from the archive, then I would be very grateful to hear from them. This came with documentation in TeX format, but using a macro package called `INFO-TEX'. I could not find this in the Aston server, neither could I communicate with you my mail then! I sent a note to PDSOFT news and by return received copies of the INFO-TEX package, which (after some fixes) I got to work. Would you like this for the Aston server? It appears to be used for documentation by the GNU people. I noticed this some time ago, but was more worried by the fact that (b) was in the left margin, due to a faulty definition in the list environment. However, after correcting this, the problem still remained. As a one-off job, I wanted to get LaTeX to format our examinations. The default with an enumeration, after changing round the second and third counters, is that you get the following: 1 First question..... wrapping to here (i) First part... wrapping here (ii) Second part... to here (a) Subpart... wrapping here etc, which I was satisfied with, but the Head of Department wasn't. He wanted 1 First question..... wrapping to here (i) First part... wrapping here (ii) Second part... to here (a) Subpart... wrapping here or something similar, which looks better if your questions aren't too fragmented. After duly changing the definition of \enumerate, a problem arose. What I got was correct, except that if the whole question was in two parts, I got 1 (i) First part... wrapping here (ii) Second part... to here (a) Subpart... wrapping here with an ugly indentation of part (i). Try the following, with and without the commented section, to see the difference. Will the next version of LaTeX make it easier to achieve this sort of effect, without having to redefine its private parts? Also, is that extra indentation really necessary? It looks awful in a theorem.
